The homeowners of this home in Anaheim Hills, California wanted a garden that was safe for their grandchildren as they have a many local rattle snakes that visit.
They wanted a garden that was low maintenance, drought tolerant, and pretty, but the most important factor was to be able to see the snakes from a distance as the grandchildren love to run back and forth through there.
We used gravel with natural stone steppers for access, and plants well spaced for clear sight. We also used small natural boulders as accents. The irrigation is drip.
A spectacular grevillea 'long john' is the focal point at the entry.
